Italy has 20 wine regions. If we think about wine, we think of France as a productive country, but Italy produces almost as much. Some years Italy even “wins” from France.
The most important regions are: Sicily, Apulia, Veneto and Emilia Romagna.
The quality wines are divided into:
DOCG: highest quality standard
DOC: second highest quality standard
IGT: wine from a particular geographical area
VdT: simple basic wines.
